Student Life

We offer a rigorous curriculum that is meaningful and engaging, and students receive individual focus. In addition to core subject areas, all students have the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary learning in the arts, science, math, English, world language and history.

Additionally, we provide four-year College Counseling which supports students in showcasing their achievements, following their passions, navigating the search and application process, and choosing the best postsecondary fit.

We participate in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) and offer athletic opportunities all year round in soccer, volleyball, cross country and track, mountain biking, crew, basketball, softball, tennis, lacrosse, competitive cheerleading and Junior level ice hockey.

Our Arts curriculum is equally as robust, with courses in drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, and various performing arts classes.

Penguin Hall’s 5-day and 7-day boarding programs offer students the chance to live independently alongside their peers in a structured, supportive environment that fosters personal responsibility. These programs help students develop independence and gain valuable dorm life experience before college. Planned group activities encourage bonding among residents, and 7-day boarders enjoy exciting cultural trips, activities, and events on weekends.

The Academy at Penguin Hall is the only independent, all-girls high school on the North Shore.

Our mission is to educate, enlighten and empower young women to live and to lead exemplary lives.

Why All-Girls at Penguin Hall?

The Higher Education Research Institute has reported that single-gender education for girls yields superior academic accomplishment, supported socio-emotional development, improved test scores and better long term indicators for success, as compared with co-ed schooling.

In a single-gender setting, girls are more willing to take risks and set ambitious educational goals. They simultaneously learn to become supportive of each other and more competitive. At Penguin Hall, there is a palpable sisterhood that emerges each year. The friendships that girls form with students and teachers are meaningful, often lifelong connections. Students learn the skills they need to succeed in an atmosphere that supports their intellectual, social, athletic, and personal growth.
